Commissioner Seeking Bids On Wheel Loader

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry is seeking bids on a new wheel loader.  The commissioner’s bid request says that the county is looking to purchase a “wheel loader equivalent to a WA270 Komatsu with cab and air conditioning, bucket, forks and a power broom.  According to online pricing, loaders like these are selling in excess of $150,000.  The commissioner’s bid request says that the commissioner can accept or reject any bid.  Bids are due at the commissioner’s office before 2 PM today.

The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) awarded $16,500 in scholarships–including the Vernon and Gaynelle Grizzard Scholarship, Patrick D. Doyle Law Enforcement Scholarship and Gene Haas Scholarship–for summer semester 2022 to 31 students.

AAA: 1.5 Million Georgians Will Travel Independence Day

 

Independence Day will be the second busiest since 2000, as travel volumes continue to trend upwards with no sign of slowing down. AAA predicts 1.5 million Georgians will travel 50 miles or more during the holiday weekend (June 30 – July 4). That’s 3.3% more than last year’s holiday, and a little over 4% since 2019.
