AMI Cemetery Asking For Donations

The AMI Cemetery in Menlo is asking the community for donations for the upkeep of the cemetery, located on Jamestown Road just outside the city limits of Menlo.  The cemetery is maintained by volunteers and donations.  Anyone wishing to donate can mail contributions to Sue Gilley at PO Box 25, Menlo, GA 30731.  Also, people with loved ones buried at AMI Cemetery are being asked to not use glass flower vases or glass containers of any kind in the cemetery.

Secretary of State Secures $400,000 in Maintenance for StoneMor Cemeteries

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger secured $400,000 in additional investment in care and maintenance by StoneMor Inc, a company that operates several cemeteries around Georgia, to better protect and honor Georgia’s deceased loved ones. After receiving complaints about several of StoneMor’s cemeteries around the state, Secretary Raffensperger investigated and has put the 4 named cemeteries on conditional registration with heightened supervision for two years and required them to put an additional $400,000 into direct upkeep of the cemeteries. 3 additional StoneMor cemeteries were investigated but remedied relevant issues.

Alabama Man Charged With Public Indecency In Rome

A Cherokee County (Alabama) man was jailed in northwest Georgia after he allegedly “exposed” himself at a Walmart store. Garbiel Lance Moore, age 31 of Cedar Bluff, was arrested around 8:00pm Thursday at the West Rome Walmart and charged with Public Indecency – after exposing himself, and reportedly wearing a sexual device in public.

Highway 157 To Be Closed Near State Line Until June 6

State Route 157 will remain closed until June 6 near the Georgia/Tennessee state line on Lookout Mountain. Crews are stabilizing the slope near the route and repairing a section of the road. The road closure was extended due to supply issues and additional work needed on the project.
