Georgia Gas Prices Increase

Georgia gas prices increased alongside rising crude oil prices. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.83 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 12 cents more than a week ago, 3 cents more than last month and $1.08 more than this time last year.

Trion Council Announces Public Meeting On Packaged Liquor Licenses

The Trion Town Council and Mayor will be hosting a public meeting regarding the licensing of retail liquor stores.  The public meeting concerning the ordinance change to Chapter 4 Alcoholic Beverages will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 6 PM at Trion Town Hall.  Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas and the council are requesting input from the citizens of the Town of Trion.

Accident Shuts Down Section Of Trion-Teloga Road On Monday

UPDATE 7 PM:  Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader released the following statement on Monday evening: “As far as an update on the crash earlier, I can confirm that there were two vehicles involved and a total of four people injured. Unfortunately, two of those were fatally injured and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Another patient was air lifted to an area medical facility and one was transported via ambulance to a Rome hospital. More information will be released tomorrow after family members have been notified. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.”

A serious accident on Monday shut down a portion of Trion-Teloga Road for most of the day.  Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader notified media about the accident just before noon.  The sheriff said, “A major crash on Trion-Teloga Road near the intersection of Melba Drive has closed a portion of the road.”  The sheriff updated around 1 PM saying the road was still closed as Georgia State Troopers worked the accident.  Lifeforce landed in Trion on Monday afternoon to transport victims.  WZQZ News will have more information as it becomes available.

Miss Chattooga Pageant Winners

Chattooga FCCLA held the annual Miss Chattooga County Pageant this past weekend. The pageant had 79 participants. This annual fundraiser helps Chattooga FCCLA participate at the Region, State, and National levels. Chattooga FCCLA will be attending National Leadership Conference this year summer in San Diego, California! Thank you to each participant and their family and friends for helping make this another successful pageant!
