According to the Radio + Television Business Report, Summerville television station SKY 21 – WSKY has sold to new owners.
A fifty-year-old Summerville man was jailed after a traffic stop on Saturday. According to Summerville Police, an officer observed Anthony Todd Browning not wearing a seatbelt and failing to maintain a single lane shortly before 9 PM and initiated a traffic stop. Browning admitted that he had swerved over the yellow line several times. Browning was found to be driving on suspended or revoked license, having had his license revoked due to failure to pay child support and “various other reasons”, according to the citation from the police department. Browning was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
Georgia may be known as the “Peach State”, but we could just as well be known as the “Onion State” because the world-famous Vidalia Onion can only be grown in Georgia. Today is the day that Vidalia Onions will begin to be shipped across the state and across the United States.
Georgia gas prices continue to decline at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.76 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 11 cents less than a week ago, 50 cents less than last month and $1.05 more than this time last year.
The new county convenience center opened on Reece Street in Menlo on Monday. The former site on Highway 48 was closed after the land was sold to a new owner who did not want to continue leasing the spot for the dump site to the county.

Dr. Gary Voccio, health director for the ten-county Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District, is reminding residents of the area that everyone age five years and older are eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccine and anyone twelve or older is eligible for a free COVID-19 booster.
The Town of Trion Business Office, Maintenance, Gas, and Recreation Departments will be closed on Friday, April 15, 2022 for Good Friday Easter Holiday. Garbage normally picked up on Friday will be picked up on Thursday, April 14, 2022. All other days will be on regular schedule. The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is observing National Work Zone Awareness Week April 11 – 15. This year’s theme is “Work Zones are a Sign to Slow Down”. Each spring Georgia DOT and other departments of transportation across the country observe National Work Zone Awareness Week to educate motorists about the dangers of work zones and to remind drivers to plan, minimize distractions and slow down when driving through work zones.
