As the remnants of Ida move through Northwest Georgia, we could see some strong winds. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that we can expect gusty winds between 20 and 30 mph, which could lead to problems with downed trees, limbs and powerlines.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of Central and Northern Georgia. Chattooga and surrounding counties are included in the watch. Flash flood conditions are possible as Ida moves into the area bringing with it a possible 3-5 inches of rain.

Trion City Schools released its weekly COVID-19 report on Friday of last week. The numbers show 15 cases at Trion Elementary School; 8 cases at Trion Middle Schools; 6 cases at Trion High School. District staff members tested positive with one case at Trion Elementary School and one case at Trion High School.
The Trion Fire Department is looking for firefighters. According to Fire Chief Justin Lowe, the department is looking for men and women who are willing to serve their community. The North Carolina-based Bojangles chain of restaurants says it will close all of its company-owned establishments on two upcoming days, portraying it as a chance to provide its thousands of employees a “well-deserved break.” But Bojangles’ employees will not get paid for those days off. The Bojangles’ restaurants in Summerville, LaFayette and Rome are not corporately owned.
The Chattooga County School System released its weekly COVID-19 report on Friday of last week. The numbers show 57 total positive cases of COVID-19 at Chattooga High School, which prompted school officials to switch the high school to virtual learning.
