In Georgia, 1 in 7 people live with food insecurity – not knowing where their next meal will come from.  There’s Hope for the Hungry is a Christian ministry, founded in prayer in 2003 and committed to evangelizing and feeding people who are in need.  The group is active in Chattooga County and will be distributing food next week in Summerville.

Tax Commissioner Closed Tuesday

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that her office will be closed on Tuesday for cleaning. Hampton says that her office had a COVID exposure. The tax commissioner says she isn’t sure when the cleaning crew will be finished, so it is best to call ahead before coming by her office.

Tropical Storm Fred is forecast to gradually increase in strength as it tracks through the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico today.   On the forecast track, the center of Fred should move across eastern and northern Gulf of Mexico and make landfall in the western Florida Panhandle later this afternoon or evening.

Chattooga High School and Title 1 will be hosting a Junior & Senior Essentials Night on August 19, at 5:30pm in the high school cafe.
