Summerville Main Street is proud to host the 5th Annual Spring Market in Summerville’s Dowdy Park on Saturday, April 17. Market hours are 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. and will include arts, crafts, retail, and food vendors.

According to Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Cloudland Fire Department have partnered to open another Sheriff’s Office substation, which will be located inside the new Cloudland Fire Department building on County Road 66, just across the state line from Chattooga County.
Thanks to funds from the Library Services and Technology Act through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, patrons of the Chattooga County Library can now access the Internet at home. The local library has T-Mobile hotspots that can be used anywhere where there is T-Mobile coverage. These hotspots check out for seven (7) days with no renewals. Patrons must be 18 years or older and sign a Statement of Responsibility before checking out the hotspot. Contact the local Chattooga County Library for more information.

Firefighters were called to the scene of an early-morning house fire on Monday. According to reports, the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. LaFayette Fire Department officials say that the house located at 207 Glenn Street had no power connection. When firefighters arrived on the scene around 6:15 AM, the house was fully-engulfed in flames. Fire officials believe that it may be a case of arson. The fire in under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
Georgia gas prices decreased slightly at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.70 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 1 cent less than a week ago, 5 cents more last month, and 99 cents more than this time last year.
Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Commissioner Pat Wilson issued the following statement regarding the news that SK Innovation and LG Energy Solution have reached a settlement agreement, which will enable SK Innovation to continue development on its battery manufacturing plant in Jackson County, Georgia.
