A 68 year old Walker County man has been charged with the molestation of a 13 year old female relative. Eric Gene Coley was arrested by Detective Becky Beaso and charged with three counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated sexual battery in the case, according to Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an executive order Thursday that eliminates the ban on gatherings and shelter-in-place requirements.
Motorists can expect new signage along I-75 in the coming months. Georgia Department of Transportation awarded North Cherokee Electrical a $3.94 million contract to replace the signage on the interstate from Glade Road to the Tennessee state line. The project is slated to be finished next summer.

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says tax fi fas (property liens) will be filed late next week on properties that still owe for 2020 property taxes. Those bills were due last December, and reminders were sent out in February. 1,799 of those notices were sent out, and as of this morning, 911 parcels remain unpaid. Real property collections for 2020 are at 96%.

As another severe storm is expected Wednesday, Georgia Power encourages customers to monitor local weather conditions and keep safety first as inclement weather moves across the state.
