City officials say that all Summerville City Offices will be reopening starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, 2020. The offices have been closed due to COVID-19.
A Trion man was arrested for impaired driving after he was reported to be weaving “all over the road” near the chicken houses on Highway 100 near the Floyd County Line.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many government agencies are providing money and other support to help with pandemic related hardships. Scammers, always ready to take advantage of people in a crisis, have been stepping in with a new con. Watch out for con artists claiming to “help” you get free government aid.
Summerville Police are investigating a theft from a Cleghorn Street residence that was reported on Friday of last week. The complainant told a responding officer that someone had entered his back yard and moved items around. Also, the complainant said that someone had stolen a string trimmer from the back of his pickup truck while the truck was parked at the residence. The complainant said that had happened earlier in the week. Summerville Police are investigating.
The Summerville Recreation Center opened again this week. They posted the following announcement about fall sports registration on social media:
Georgia gas prices decreased slightly at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $1.97 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 2 cents less than a week ago, 2 cents less than last month, and 57 cents less than this time last year.
This is the final week of fall sports registration at The Trion Recreation Department; this includes football, cheer-leading, soccer and girls volleyball. Signups will end on Saturday of this week at 5 PM. The Trion Recreation Center will be open 8 AM – 7 PM today through Friday and from 8 AM until 5 PM on Saturday.
Chattooga County voters are returning to the polls today to vote in the Republican Primary Runoff election. Already, over 1500 voters have cast their ballots early in today’s races – that’s more than voted early in the June Primary Election.
