Calhoun Man Attacks Jail Officers

A twenty-nine-year-old inmate at the Floyd County Jail has received multiple additional charges after an incident occurred in which he attacked jail officers. According to Floyd County Jail Records Ernesto Bail Perez of a Coleman Drive Calhoun address allegedly kicked a jail officer (injuring his wrist), and also bit another officer on the hand. Jail reports also state that Perez spit on another officer while making death threats. Perez is being charged with 2 counts of battery, 4 counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement, Simple battery, 2 counts of terroristic threats and acts, unlawful acts in a penal institution, and misdemeanor failure to appear.

Town Of Trion Holiday Notice

The Town of Trion Business Office, Recreation Department, Maintenance Department, Water Department, Sanitation Department, and Gas Department will be closed on Friday and Monday, December 23rd and 26th, 2022 for Christmas Holidays. These departments will also be closed Monday, January 2, 2023, for the New Year’s Holiday.

Garbage routes normally picked up on Friday will be collected on Thursday and routes normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday.

After Christmas Holidays, the Business Office and other departments will reopen on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Our reopening date for the New Year’s Holiday will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Third Annual Subligna Christmas Parade This Friday

The third annual Subligna Christmas Parade is coming up on Friday of this week.  Parade participants will decorate cars, trucks and side-by-side ATV’s and celebrate Christmas in downtown Subligna.  The parade will get underway at 5 PM this Friday.  You must be 16 years-of-age to drive in the parade, or be accompanied by an adult.  The Subligna Community is inviting anyone and everyone to come out on Friday for the Subligna Christmas Parade.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance once again this year.  If you have questions, you can call Shelly Hawkins at 706-266-3381.

Sometimes the compassion a nurse shows family members during a time of grief is almost as impactful as the care provided to a patient. Sarah Siniard, a registered nurse in Atrium Health Floyd’s Emergency Care Center, made an impression on a Rome woman whose mother-in-law passed away this past August at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center.

New Jersey Man Arrested In NW Georgia On Armed Robbery Charges

A thirty-year-old New Jersey man was arrested at a location on Government Plaza on Friday by the Floyd County Police Department and is being charged with armed robbery. According to Floyd County Jail Records, Terrence Lee Shellhas of a California Avenue Williamstown address allegedly robbed a victim at gunpoint on Georgia Avenue in Cave Spring on December 15th around 1:30 AM. Police stated that another suspect helped Shellhas steal the victim’s property.

Lower Gas Prices Continue For Georgia

Georgia gas prices continue to decline at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.78 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 10 cents less than a week ago, 36 cents less than a month ago, and 34 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $41.70 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying $5.00 less to fill-up at the pump compared to last month.
