The World’s Longest Yard Sale, a once-a-year, 690-mile shopping trip, will take place as planned, August 6-9, 2020, and as a mostly outdoor event, there is more than enough space to allow for social distancing among shoppers.
Chattooga County resident and former Floyd County School System employee Derry Richardson was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Monday in Floyd County Superior Court.
A forty-five-year-old Summerville woman who has been incarcerated at the Floyd County Jail since May has been charged after she allegedly broke a phone inside the jail.
Georgia gas prices declined slightly at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.00 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 1 cent less than a week ago, 2 cents more than last month, and 62 cents less than this time last year.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) has been notified that several Georgia residents have received unsolicited packages containing seeds that appear to have originated from China. Recipients are strongly advised not to open the packages or plant the seeds.
Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that he is taking extra precautions after nearly half of his jail staff either tested positive for COVID-19 or began showing symptoms on Monday.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office was called last Thursday evening to investigate the theft of a tire from a residence on Highway 27 in the Gore Community.
