The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced that it is accepting nominations for the 2020 Georgia Emerging Automotive Recognition (GEAR) Awards, previously known as the Georgia Automotive Awards. The updated GEAR Awards, for 2020 and beyond, are designed to recognize forward movement in the automotive and mobility industries through innovation and emerging technologies. For years, scammers have used a small device on ATMs, gas pumps, and other terminals, to harvest credit card information. As technology has improved, this form of “skimming” has become less effective. However, scammers aren’t deterred! Now, they use a technique called “e-skimming” to steal credit card data from online shoppers instead.

MR. ALVIN DIMAGGIO (“POPPA ALV.”) EVANS – AGE 82,- of Summerville, GA passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at a local Health Care. He was born in Lyerly, Chattooga County, Georgia on July 27, 1937 to the late parents, John Leonard Evans and Lelia Finley Evans. He was preceded by his daughter, Angelita Evans, brother, O’Neal Evans. He was retired from Roper Industry.
LaFayette Police are looking for a “hit and run” driver, who escaped following a crash Friday afternoon on the Bypass at East Villanow Street.
Georgia Power is offering a special payment plan to help customers with past-due account balances accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers who enroll will be able to pay past-due balances over a six-month timeframe between October 2020 and March 2021, with no late fees.
