On Monday of this week a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about a property dispute. The complainant told the deputy that he had just came from Chattooga County Magistrate Court and that Judge Tracy Maddux had given possession of his mobile home to his niece. The complainant said that his niece produced what appeared to be, a new title for the mobile home and told the judge that she had paid up the property taxes. The complainant said that his niece had forged his name and could be using his ID for other purposes. The complainant said that Judge Maddux had told him he needed to get a report filed on the suspected forgery and get the incident investigated. The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
Georgia Highlands College has announced students named to the spring 2020 President’s List and Dean’s List. To achieve President’s List status, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and attain a minimum of nine semester hours of credit. To make Dean’s List students must complete a minimum of nine semester hours and achieve at least a 3.5 average.
According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, a man went to George’s Kwik Store on Highland Avenue earlier this week and gave the gas station attendant a credit card and told the attendant that he was going to pump $25 worth of gas. The man then went back out and pumped his gas and left without coming back in the store. When the attendant ran the credit card, it was declined. The card was issued through United Community Bank. The Summerville Police Department is investigating the theft.
