GDOL: Unemployment Process Streamlined

The Georgia Department of Labor announced it is streamlining its process to make it easier for permanently terminated workers to continue receiving their benefits without interruption. According to a press release, the program will allow employer filed partial claims to be converted to individual claims if the individual becomes permanently terminated. In the past, when an employer permanently laid off an employee, the employee then had to file an individual claim. The employee filed claim process took more than 30 days, labor officials wrote.

LaFayette Police Charge Man With DUI – Drugs After Crashing Car

LaFayette Police charged a driver with crashing his vehicle under the influence of drugs, Saturday afternoon, on Foster Mill Drive.  The vehicle had dropped off the edge of the pavement and hit a culvert.

Town Of Trion Memorial Day Schedule

The Town of Trion Business Office, Gas Department, Maintenance Department, and Recreation Department will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2020 for Memorial Day. Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. All other days will be on regular schedule. For any emergency calls for the Gas Department or Police Department please call Emergency 911 and they will contact the proper person

Town Of Trion Asks For “No Play” On Track Field

The Town of Trion is requesting that everyone “abstain from playing sports on the track field during the next few weeks while the flags are on display honoring our veterans.”  The crosses and flags are erected at the Trion Track Field in observance of Memorial Day.  The Town of Trion says if you have questions, you should call Town Hall at 706-734-2332.  Trion Town Hall is open Monday – Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM.

We have had a recent rash of “Entering Auto’s” inside the city limits of Trion and also in the surrounding areas. We are working with The Chattooga County Sheriff’s office in a joint investigation.
