Governor Brian P. Kemp congratulated the 2020 Governor’s Honors Program finalists. In an effort to place the health and safety of students and instructors as a highest priority, the 2020 Governor’s Honors Program originally scheduled for June 14 to July 11 at Berry College will be cancelled for the first time since its inception in 1964. Though COVID-19 has changed the landscape of business as usual, it should not overshadow recognition for those who are passionate about learning and demonstrate outstanding aptitude throughout the wide range of disciplines represented in the Governor’s Honors Program.
The Georgia House of Representatives is gearing up to resume a 2020 legislative session interrupted in mid-March by the coronavirus pandemic.
Waterfowl hunting season planning can now get underway since the 2020-2021 migratory bird season hunting dates and regulations were recently approved by the Board of Natural Resources.
The Georgia Department of Corrections says that a total of 273 prisoners in the state’s prisons have been diagnosed with coronavirus; also, 88 staff members have been diagnosed. Of those, 31 of the staff members have recovered and 160 offenders have recovered. There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County.

Following Governor Kemp’s recent announcements regarding guidance for business re-openings, we’d like to share our current plans to resume normal business operations at Coosa Valley Credit Union. We currently plan that all Coosa Valley Credit Union branch office lobbies will open and serve members in a limited capacity beginning Monday, May 18. Until that time, we will continue offering expanded drive thru services, as well as curbside and appointment services.
