The Coosa Valley Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for 2021 home ownership for residents of Chattooga, Floyd and Polk counties.
Georgia gas prices increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.04 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 4 cents more than a week ago, 9 cents more than last month, and 34 cents less than this time last year.
Summerville Police Officers responded to a report of a stolen car early last week. Responding to a 4th Street address, Officers spoke with the vehicle owner, Ms. Caroline Powell who stated that her 1991 White Oldsmobile Cutlass was missing.
The Cutlass had been sitting in the yard, it had just been placed there the day before, but the next day, December 14th, the car went missing. Ms. Powell had moved the car to that spot to be worked on. A Mr. Cedric Price and Mr. Charles Price had helped moved the car to that spot, and according to Ms. Powell were the only ones who knew it was there.
The case is still under investigation.
To ease the stresses of the holiday season the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced today the suspension of construction-related lane closures on heavily traveled interstate highways and state routes near major shopping areas and tourist locations from 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 23 to 10 p.m. Sunday, December 27 for the Christmas holiday. Restrictions are also in place for the New Year’s holiday from 5 a.m. Thursday, December 31 to 5 a.m. Saturday, January 2. The statewide lane restrictions allow reduced traffic congestion during the winter holidays.
MR. HAROLD PERRY WIGGINS- Age, 73 of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was born January 31, 1947 to the late Oben Perry and Flunnie Wiggins. He is preceded by his parents, brother, Gregory Wiggins and sister, Helen Wiggins Ludy.
