The City of Summerville will be closing their offices this afternoon at 2 PM for the Christmas holiday. This will include all city offices and the gas, waste water, and public works departments.
All city offices and departments will reopen on Wednesday, December 26th with regular hours.

A Summerville man was hurt during a Tuesday morning two-vehicle accident in Cherokee County. The other driver was also from Summerville, with the two colliding on Alabama Highway 68 just before 11 AM.

The stresses of the holiday season are upon us. Georgia DOT aims to ease traffic congestion and driving anxieties with suspension of construction-related lane closures on interstate highways, heavily traveled state routes and roadways near major shopping areas and tourist locations in northwest Georgia from 6 a.m. Saturday, December 22 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Restrictions will also be in place for the New Year holiday from 6 a.m. Sunday, December 30 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

As always, it will be on Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Summerville branch.
Numerous studies have shown the benefits that being read to at a young age offers children later in life, including higher IQ, more emotional intelligence, and higher socioeconomic status.
All pre-schoolers are invited to the event, and must be accompanied by an adult.
