At $2.72, the national gas price average is at its cheapest in six months, and northwest Georgia has some of the lowest prices in the state and country.

Police Identify Body found near Cave Spring

Floyd County coroner Gene Proctor says that the woman whose body was found deceased Wednesday on Highway 411 has been identified. Her name was Hope Parr, and she was 32 at her time of death.

Parr was found deceased in a ditch off Hwy. 411 near Cunningham Road.

There were no clear signs of trauma, but it was possible she had been there up to 18 hours, according to officials.

An investigation into Parr’s death and a search possible witnesses continues.

Christmas in the Park in Summerville

The City of Summerville’s annual Christmas in the Park celebration will be held Thursday, December 6th from 6 PM until 9 PM. The public is invited to visit Dowdy Park for this free even to see the park come alive with holiday cheer.

Santa will arrive at the Summerville Depot at 6:30 PM to visit and offer free photos with children. The tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for 7 PM.

Live entertainment, contests, free food, hayrides and a bonfire will highlight the event. Free tours of the Couey House will be given by members of the Chattooga County Historical Society.

New Restaurant Headed to Summerville: Char-Bucks Almost Famous Grill

Almost Famous Homestyle Cafe is adding a Summerville location on Commerce Street, according to recent reports.

The Rome-based southern comfort food eatery is about a year old, and is housed in the old Mr. D’s in Armuchee, just north of Food Lion.

They have not yet given an official location for the new Summerville spot, but shared the above picture of downtown October 31st on their Facebook page, which also has their menu available.

One Killed, One Injured after Pickup Truck and Log Truck Collide in Cedar Bluff

One person was killed and another rushed for treatment, following a three-vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 9 near the Highway 35 intersection in Cedar Bluff Tuesday afternoon.  According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, at 5:45pm a 2012 GMC pickup driven by 78 year old Gordon Kilgore of Silver Creek, Georgia, slammed into the rear of a fully loaded log truck.
