The banking system is healing with 2012 the best year for profits reported since 2006. Still, Georgia had 10 bank failures during 2012 with one in nearby Walker County. Covenant Bank and Trust in Rock Spring was taken over by Stearn's Bank, back in March. Most of the other 9 bank failures in the state were in Metro Atlanta. With the worst of the recession apparently behind us, bankers in Georgia say they are glad that people and businesses are taking out, and repaying loans again.
