Multiple fire crews were called to a barn fire in the Mountain View community on Saturday afternoon. The blaze broke out in the 400 block of Mountain View Road, and responders say the structure was already fully engulfed when they arrived on scene.

Firefighters from Trion, Summerville, Hays Correctional, and Walker County worked together to control the flames. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and Atrium Health Floyd EMS also responded to assist.

Two horses were inside the barn but were able to escape safely, and no other livestock were injured. Fire officials say the barn was completely destroyed, and a nearby shed suffered heavy damage from the heat and flames.

Crews worked for an extended period to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby property. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
