Fort Oglethorpe Police are investigating an armed robbery early Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, at the McDonald’s on Battlefield Parkway, in which two men held up the restaurant gunpoint.

According to Lt. Steve Blevins, they entered about 2:40 a.m. and made off with about $300 in cash.

no one was injured.

A witness told police the men came into the restaurant already covered from head to toe with clothing. They jumped the counter, knocked an employee down by striking him with the gun, and then forced employees into the restaurant’s office.

The offenders told the employee to open the safe and give them the money. While the employee was attempting to get into the safe, the offender holding the gun ejected a bullet, and then inserted another into the chamber of the gun. He put the barrel of the gun into the employee’s side, stepped back, and pointed it at the employee’s head.

It appeared as though the robbers left the area on foot, but could have possibly entered a nearby vehicle.

Employees described the men as wearing white clothes around their heads, gray plaid jackets, brown gloves, and carrying a black gun with a silver slide.
