Summerville Police were called to a Bittings Avenue duplex on Monday of this week to speak with a complainant who said that her renter – who lives in the neighboring duplex – has a twelve-year-old son that has been destroying her property.
The complainant told the responding officer that the child had damaged a gate and siding on the shed. The police officer pointed out that it looked like normal wear and could not see any sign of damage. The woman then told the officer that the child had moved a towel over a window and had placed two birds inside her home. The officer pointed out that the towel was in its proper place and offered to assist the woman in getting the birds out of her residence. The complainant refused to allow the officer inside and said she would just let the birds die.
The complainant then said that the child had damaged the inside of the duplex he lives in with his mother. The officer asked the complainant what kind of damage had been done, and she said she didn’t know what the child had damaged, but she knows he has.
The complainant then told the officer that she is planning on evicting the boy and his mother and wanted a report to be on file with the police department.
