The Floyd County Coroner’s office is seeking to identify a body that was found on the banks of the Etowah River in Rome on Sunday afternoon.

The Rome Police Department is reporting that the body was that of a white man in his early 40’s.

The Floyd County Coroner’s Office stated that the cause of death is unknown at this time, but it doesn’t appear suspicious, and police are not investigating.

The body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for identification. The area the body was found in is known for large amount of homeless encampments.
