The Chattooga County Board of Education voted this week to spend $1.8 million to build new tennis courts for Chattooga High School.
The tennis team at the high school has been competing without home courts for several years.
Vice-Chairman of the Chattooga Board of Education B.J. Montgomery told WZQZ News, “I am happy we are able to get the tennis court project underway. The courts have been on the back burner for far too long. These courts will be an excellent addition to the CHS campus. Chattooga County students and athletes deserve the best facilities possible”.
The construction of the courts will be done by the same company that is building the new Menlo Elementary School, J & R Construction. Construction on the new tennis courts is expected to begin within the next few weeks, and the courts should be completed before the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
