Chattooga County Water District customers east of Taylor’s Ridge and some water customers on the City of Summerville and Town of Lyerly water systems are being advised to continue to boil their water.
The boil water order was issued earlier this week after the EPD tested a county well. Those tests are now back and show that there is still an issue with the well.
The county says that after treatment, the water is safe, but because their are still unsafe levels in the well, the EPD is recommending customers continue to boil the water.
Public Works Director Joe Reed told WZQZ News that the county is treating the well to try to get it in compliance, but it may be necessary to pull the pump at the well.
The boil water order will remain in place at least through the first of next week.
Areas affected include all county water customers east of Taylor’s Ridge along with Summerville City water customers in the Marble Hill Road area and Lyerly customers from Highway 100 to Chattoogaville and then to Josh Ward Road.
