An apparent bomb threat has been reported at Trion City Schools. The campus is on lockdown while officials investigate the building. Students have been evacuated to the tennis courts. No other details at this time.
UPDATE: A special bomb unit is being brought in to assist in the bomb threat investigation at Trion City Schools. Speculation remains that this is a prank, however officials are being cautious.
9:45 AM UPDATE: AM1180 spoke briefly with Trion Police Chief Jason Kellett, and he elaborated on the situation at Trion Schools. He said teams have been sent in to the elementary, middle and high schools as well as all recreation areas and they have not discovered anything suspicious. There is no sign of forced entry or break-ins at the school. Chief Kellett says they are double checking all search areas and bringing in bomb dogs. Trion City Schools will most likely be resuming normal operations once this has concluded, however Superintendent Williams has stated it would be okay if a parent wishes to pick up their child.
11:00 AM UPDATE: All parents who will picking up their children from Trion City Schools are being asked to wait at either the Trion Recreation center or Triangle Shopping Center until students are officially released and thru traffic is possible on the campus. Dismissal should be within 45 minutes to 1 hour
