It took a Chattooga County jury just less than two hours Thursday to find Michael Bright not guilty of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in the 2007 shooting of Richard Shawn Harris.
It was the second trial for Bright and the second time he was tried on the voluntary manslaughter. charge The trial began Thursday morning at the Chattooga County Courthouse.
In August 2009 a jury found Bright not guilty of malice murder and felony murder and was deadlocked on the voluntary manslaughter charge.
According to testimony,Bright and Harris had a long-running fued that became a confrontation on the night of the shooting. Harris reportedly approached Bright’s truck and Bright contends that Harris tried to enter the vehicle.
