The Labor Day Weekend flood closed businesses and wrecked havoc on downtown Summerville. One of the businesses affected heavily by the flood waters was one of Chattooga County’s favorite places to eat.
The Burger Shack saw extensive damage from the flooding. Leslie Watwood, owner of the drive-thru restaurant said that while she had business insurance, she didn’t have flood insurance. The repairs for the building are going to be expensive, but The Burger Shack will reopen, according to the owner.
On Friday, Leslie said, “So many have been asking about Burger Shack, well…. Not sure of reopening date but we’ve came along way. Thank you for your prayers. And I can never say thank you enough to each and everyone that has helped me.”
As soon as an re-opening date is announced, WZQZ will pass that information along.
