Last week, WZQZ News reported about a man who fled from the scene of an accident and barricaded himself in a bathroom at a convenience store because, in his words, “he didn’t want to deal with police”.  It turns out, he had good reason for wanting to avoid police – he was driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the crash.

Twenty-nine-year-old Calhoun resident Michael Hunter Garrett has now been charged with being in possession of a stolen Honda Accord valued at $20,000 and was charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

Garrett was originally arrested last week after he crashed into a guard rail on U.S. 411 in Floyd County.  At the time, Garrett admitted to being under the influence of  marijuana, methamphetamine, painkillers, and other possible drugs.
