Two Calhoun men, Deounta Demetrius Curtis, 23, and Claude Travis Simpson, 34, have been convicted and sentenced to life without parole for the home invasion and murder of 42 year-old Jason David Hammond. The sentences bring a close to a case that started in October of last year. Earlier this month Brent Damon Carey 28 of Calhoun, was sentenced to 45 years in connection with the murder.

Curtis was also found guilty of armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, cruelty to children in the third degree and possession of a firearm during a felony.

He will also serve a sentence of an additional 105 years for those crimes.

Police had said that what began as a robbery on November 5 ,2011 at the home of Hammond went downhill and resulted in his death.
