A week of downtime is scheduled for Calhoun’s AbitibiBowater paper manufacturing plant next month due to high inventories and rising costs.

Approximately 500 of the plant’s 850 employees will be affected. Because of the way shifts fall, employees will miss three days of work at most.

Employees will be able to take vacation days or paid time off through the period in the first week of December.

The facility manufactures newsprint, commercial printing papers and market pulp.
