For over five decades, Camp Hamby has been a cornerstone of the Summerville community, providing children with a safe and enriching summer experience rooted in faith, creativity, and outdoor exploration.
Founded in 1968 thanks to a generous land donation from Hugh Hamby of Menlo United Methodist Church, the camp continues to flourish, growing from a humble start of 38 children in 1981 to welcoming approximately 300 campers today. Camp Hamby’s enduring appeal lies in its commitment to creating a welcoming and diverse environment. Open to all children, regardless of denomination, the camp fosters friendship and understanding through a blend of engaging activities, including arts and crafts, nature exploration, and age-appropriate Bible studies. Registration is now open for the Camp Hamby Day Camp, running from June 9-13 and June 16-20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is designed for children ages 5-11 (upcoming Kindergarten through 6th grade) and features a dynamic schedule packed with arts and crafts, Bible time, music, nature activities, recreational games, and discovery learning.

Registration forms can be found on the Camp Hamby website (camphamby.com) or picked up at Trend Setters Salon or Trion High School. The deadline for registration is May 16th.
