The Candidates for State House District 12 spoke at the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday.

This isn't the first time that former Floyd County Commissioner and retired Georgia State Trooper Eddie Lumsden, A Republican of Floyd County, has taken on incumbent Barbara Massey Reese who is a Democrat from Chattooga County. Other then recent re-districting, AM1180 asked both candidates if this campaign is any different than the first time they ran against each other in 2004 in which Lumsden's bid for the post was unsuccessful.

The candidate's answers couldn't have been more different. Lumsden says he thinks the national dynamic is a bit more pronounced and people are looking at the overall picture instead of individual races. He says he is approached by many people more interested in national issues.

Reese says there's not a lot that's different. She said campaigning to her is basic grass roots campaigning and serving in office is basic grass roots service to people and staying in touch with them.

Sole Commissioner Democrat Jason Winters also spoke at the luncheon. His opponent Republican Dewayne Dawson was unable to attend due to the recent hospitalization of a family member.
