An accident involving a passenger car and a tractor occurred shortly before 10:30
Monday morning on Highway 411 in front of Mike’s Foreign Auto Sales.

It appears both vehicles were traveling southbound when the car struck the tractor
from behind, impaling itself on the tractor’s hay forks.

According to the Alabama State Troopers Post at Jacksonville the vehicle, a 2001
Chevy was being driven by Centre resident Levi Prather meanwhile the 2009 John
-Deere Tractor was being driven by 69 year old Jerry Byram of Leesburg.

Both Byram and a passenger in Prather’s vehicle – identified as 17 year old Jessica
Haskell – were listed as being injured. 

One of those injured was air-lifted from the scene at approximately 11:13, and the
other individual was transported by Cherokee EMS to a Gadsden area hospital for
treatment.  State Trooper reports did not indicate who was carried where.

Those responding to the scene included the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the
Leesburg Police and Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS, Cherokee County Rescue
Squad and Alabama State Troopers.
