A Rome man’s vehicle caught on fire on Wednesday while he was traveling on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said that the man began experiencing some mechanical difficulties while traveling over the ridge.

The man told law enforcement officers on the scene that he was able to get the car pulled over to the Overlook area on the side of Taylor’s Ridge. The car was a total loss.

The Summerville Fire Department responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported.
