
A Cartersville man has been charged in the theft of several items from a Summerville woman that occurred last month, on May 17, at Chili’s on Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome. Floyd County Police say that an arrest warrant was taken out on forty-one-year-old Geoffrey Scott Bennett who stole a purse from the Chattooga County woman at the restaurant. Bennett, who was an employee of Chili’s allegedly took the pocketbook to his home where it was found after police obtained a search warrant. The contents inside included Apple Airpods, valued at $100; credit and debit cards; $106 in cash; makeup, valued at $95; and the victim’s identification cards. Bennett is charged with felony theft by taking.
