Georgia License Plate Design ContestVoting begins Monday July 18, 2011 @ 3:00 p.m.
Voting ends Monday August 8, 2011 @ 3:00 p.m. The eight individual images (artwork) displayed contain a blank “placeholder” at the bottom of the license plate. The placeholder represents the location where the label for the applicable county name or an optional label may be affixed. All standard issue Georgia motor vehicle license plates must have the County Label (name) affixed to them, unless exempted by Code. (O.C.G.A. §§ 40-2-9 and 40-2-31). These Code sections include the option to allow a taxpayer to go to their county tag office and pay $1.00 to obtain an “In God We Trust” Label which may be placed over the County Label. This option will remain in effect with the new design.
The Code requires the license plate to “advertise, popularize and otherwise promote Georgia as the Peach State.”
