Summerville Chili & Brunswick Stew Cookoff

With the return of of the steam engines to the Summerville Depot, the City of Summerville is hosting a chili and Brunswick stew cookoff on September 16, 2023.  The event will be held from 10 AM until 3 PM and trophies will be awarded.  First place prize is $500 and second place is $200 and the third place winner will take home $100.  There will be $5 tasting wristbands available to sample all the stew and chili.  There will also be live vendors, live music and of course – the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum steam train.

Chattooga Extension: Egg Candling Class In October

If you have backyard chickens and want to sell your eggs in Georgia, you are required to have an Egg Candling License from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. This certification can be obtained by successfully completing an Egg Candling Class administered by Georgia Department of Agriculture representatives. There is no fee for the class, but pre-registration is required.  The Chattooga County Extension Office will be holding an egg candling class in October.  You can see all the details below:

Labor Day Gospel Fest Monday September 4th

There will be a Labor Day Gospel Fest on Monday September 4th from 10am until 2pm Eastern time at the Cloudland Community Park.  The event is sponsored by the Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department.  BBQ plates will be on sale for $10 which includes a drink.  There will not be any admission fee.  There will be an open mic for gospel music and sound equipment will be provided.  Everyone is welcomed to attend!
