Home to one of only a few operating train turntables in the southeastern United States, Summerville is truly a step back in time for train and history buffs alike. The City of Summerville is currently gearing up for its annual “Steam into Summerville Railroad Days”. The 6 week celebration will usher in fall and visitors of ages, while bringing a wide array of festivities to Summerville’s Dowdy Park and the Summerville Depot.

Thinkers of all ages are invited to “Hillbilly Socrates” on Wed., Oct. 10th at the Chattooga Civic Center. The evening will be an open forum discussion for anyone who would like to enjoy lively discussion about questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny. All are welcome. Members of the Mountain View Community in Chattooga County are forming a Neighborhood Watch. There will be a Neighborhood Watch community meeting coming up this Thursday, October 4th at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Mountain View Baptist Church fellowship hall which is the building behind the church. All of the Mountain View Community is invited to attend.
Menlo’s regularly scheduled City council will be be held later this week. It will be Tuesday evening at 7 PM, held in city hall.

As a ‘Thank You” for the support of senior citizens, the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park will host a Fishing Rodeo today (September 29) from 9-1. It will be a day of food, prizes, and family fun.
