The Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia has given approval for the state to establish a second medical college in addition to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is behind the idea of a new medical college and says that a new medical school is needed because of the shortage of doctors in the state.
The Georgia General Assembly has taken steps towards giving Georgia judges a pay raise. Supporters of the legislation say that the bill is needed to address disparity in judge’s salaries across the state’s 159 counties.

On Friday, the Georgia Senate passed Senate Bill 212, sponsored by Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics Sen. Max Burns (R–Sylvania). This legislation would relieve the probate court judges from being responsible for elections.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry has released a list of the roads that the county plans on repaving in 2024. The roads planned for paving this year are in the Gore area, the Teloga area and the Lyerly area. Roads included on the list are: Silver Hill Road, Old Teloga Crossroads, Harrisburg Road, Railey Road, Lyerly Dam Road, Bethel Church Road and Sling Alley Road. Commissioner Elsberry said that since he has become commissioner, the county has spent around $3.85 million on road paving.
