UPDATE: Christmas with the Alpacas WILL BE HELD December 2nd & 3rd.

The City of Summerville has decided to postpone the Victorian Christmas event that was scheduled for Saturday in downtown Summerville.  The forecast for rain prompted the change in schedule, according to Summerville Main Street Director Susan Locklear. The Summerville Christmas Parade is still planned to be held on Monday, December 4th.  Today is the last day to register a float for the parade, according to the Summerville Recreation Department.

State Senator Colton Moore (R) is still calling for a special session of the legislature to investigate the district attorney that is prosecuting former President Donald Trump in Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office released a preliminary report on Thursday regarding an accident on Highway 100 near Lick Skillet Road that happened on Wednesday evening.  According to the report, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on GA 100, while negotiating a curve to the right.  The truck exited the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch and road sign with its front. The truck continued traveling along the ditch for over 100 feet before returning onto the roadway and exited the right side of the roadway. The pickup then struck a ditch and a tree with its front.  During the crash investigation it was determined that driver of the pickup truck was impaired and charged with DUI.  The name of the driver was not released in the preliminary report, but WZQZ will have more information as it becomes available.

A new report by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety identifies six types of drivers by analyzing risky driving behaviors. The most common dangerous behaviors were speeding, distracted driving, and aggressive driving. The annual Traffic Safety Culture Index survey developed these six driver profiles by examining patterns of self-reported risky driving behaviors among a large group of drivers. Only 4 in 10 surveyed fall into the “Safe Drivers” category.

Steven Paul Wilson, 37 of Acklemore, Alabama, was jailed in Rome this week after police said they were lead on a high-speed chase on Highway 27 on November 25th.  Reports said that the chase began in Chattooga County before entering Floyd while driving at speeds of over 100 mph.

An accident involving a Chattooga County School bus happened on Highway 27 in front of Walmart on Thursday afternoon.  Chattooga County School Supt. Jared Hosmer told WZQZ News on Thursday evening that around 10 students were transported to the new freestanding AtriumHealth Floyd Chattooga Emergency Department that is adjacent to Walmart.  Hosmer said that none of the students appeared to have any serious injuries and that they were being released to their parents at the ER on Thursday evening.  The accident involved another vehicle, but a report was not immediately available from the Georgia State Patrol.  WZQZ will have a preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol when it is released on Friday.
