Trion’s Toby Maddux has been playing like an all-state player this season. On Friday night, he was something a little better than that.
A twenty-seven-year-old woman and a twenty-eight-year-old man were arrested on Halloween night after a traffic stop by Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies after a deputy clocked the car they were in travelling over the speed limit on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge. According to a report released yesterday by the sheriff’s office, when a deputy walked up to the driver’s window after performing the traffic stop, he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticed an open bottle of tequila. There was also a handgun located in the console of the vehicle. After running information on the male passenger, deputies determined that the passenger had active warrants in Tennessee and Georgia. While attempting to verify the man’s identity, the suspect became irate and began to curse at the deputies. Deputies arrested Jeremiah Devon Timmons and charged him with disorderly conduct and obstruction of officers. The driver, Jasmine Morayh Anderson, was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, DUI for drugs, reckless driving, speeding and possession of a Schedule I drug.
Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Clay Fuller released a statement on Tuesday about a forty-seven-year old man who was convicted in Chattooga County after he was found guilty of attaching razor blades to shopping buggies at Walmart in Trion:

The Region Champion Trion Bulldogs will be hosting the first round of playoff action coming up this Friday at Sam R. McCain Stadium in Trion. The game will take place on November 10th at 7:30 PM. Season passes will not be accepted. You can purchase tickets at the gate, or you can get them online HERE Reserve seats will be honored for the playoffs. Tickets for this Friday’s game are $8 each.
Georgia gas price averages continued to drop at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.90 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).
Summerville Police responded to a call at Ingles Supermarket on Sunday. According to a report from the police department, a vehicle had crashed into the store’s brick wall, causing considerable damage. The driver told police that he had dropped his son off at work and thought that his car was in reverse, when in fact, the car was in drive. The man accelerated and hit the wall of the supermarket with his 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. Police said that the store manager took the man’s insurance information and would be contacting the store’s corporate office. The man was not charged in connection with the accident.
The Georgia Forestry Commission has advised a high fire danger warning to the people of Northwest Georgia and is asking the community to refrain from burning or starting fires temporarily.
