AdventHealth Gordon in Calhoun is hosting a free low dose lung cancer screening on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8 am to 3 pm at the AdventHealth Harris Radiation Therapy Center.
Summerville Police met a complainant at McDonald’s in Summerville last Thursday about a threat that was received. The complainant said that the incident occurred on Hawkins Drive earlier that evening when a subject approached the complainant and threatened to “put holes” in the complainant’s car over things that were said about the subject’s son, while the subject was in prison. The complainant said that he wanted a report on file with the police department about the threats that he had received.

The City of Menlo will be celebrating Halloween next Tuesday on October 31, 2023. Businesses and organizations that would like to set up a Lawrence Park and pass out candy to the children can contact Menlo City Hall at 706-862-2440. Atrium Health Floyd’s new stand-alone emergency department in Chattooga County – the first of its kind to be built from the ground up in the state of Georgia – will open Monday morning at 7 a.m.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s new health plan for low-income adults has enrolled 1,343 people through the end of September about three months after launching, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Basketball registration continues at the Trion Recreation Department. The cost to register is $25 for non-Trion residents and $10 for residents. The age control date is September 1, 2023 and basketball signups are available for children from 7-12 years of age. Registration will continue until Saturday, November 11, 2023. According to numbers released on Thursday of last week, unemployment claims were up in Chattooga County for the month of September compared to the number of initial claims filed in the month of August.
