Earlier this month, a Summerville Police officer on routine patrol on Favor Street noticed a man who appeared to be tampering with a water meter. The officer knew that there had been prior issues with the water being turned off for lack of payment and stopped to talk with the subject.
The Chattooga County Young Farmers will host a harvest decoration class coming up on Tuesday, October 17th. The decoration class will feature instruction on how to create a harvest succulent pumpkin. The cost for the class is $30 for the public or $20 for young farmer members and will be held at the Chattooga County Ag Center on Middle School Drive in Summerville. Pre-registration is required. A federal jury sitting in Atlanta convicted Jack Fisher and James Sinnott today of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, aiding and assisting the filing of false tax returns and subscribing to false tax returns. Fisher was also convicted of money laundering.

Finster Fest returns to Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden in Pennville this weekend. The event runs Saturday and Sunday and will feature more than 65 folk, craft and fine artists displaying and selling their work as well as live music performances. In addition, guests can enjoy Southern food, a children’s art activity area and, of course, the chance to tour Howard Finster’s famous folk art environment.
