Vehicle Vandalized In Summerville

Summerville Police responded to a call about a car being vandalized on Orchard Road on Sunday of this week.  According to a report from the police department, the complainant said that she had left her apartment and returned several hours later to find three of her vehicle’s tires were flattened.  The complainant said she believes her ex vandalized her vehicle.  The responding officer said a report would be on file about the incident.

Trion Man Charged With Arson In Walker County

This past weekend, a thirty-four-year-old Trion man was already in the Walker County Jail on unrelated charges when he was additionally charged with first degree arson and first degree burglary.  Justin Curtis Rogers was charged after an investigation by the Walker County Fire Marshal into a fire that happened on April 23rd of this year.  The fire was on West Magnolia Street near LaFayette.  Officials in Walker County say that the home was vacant and there was not power to the home at the time of the fire.  The investigation proved that an accelerate was used in the fire and investigators identified Rogers as a suspect due to a disagreement Rogers had with a recent tenant at the residence.  Investigators say that a call to the Georgia Arson Control tip line helped identify Rogers as the suspect in the arson case.

Damage Reported At American Roofing

On Tuesday, Summerville Police responded to a call at American Roofing on Stockade Road about damage to property.  The responding officer spoke with an employee of the company who showed him where a fence at the business had been damaged.  The report from the police department indicated that part of the fence had been kicked in.  The responding officer said some of the fence panels were stacked up in the grass beside the business.  The employee said that they would review video footage from surveillance cameras and notify police if they found something suspicious.

Summerville Woman Charged With DUI In Floyd County

A forty-five-year-old Summerville woman was jailed early Tuesday morning in Floyd County after being arrested for DUI for drugs.  Police say that Katherine Nicole Medley was stopped on Georgia Highway 140, near Prosperity Way and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and driving under the influence of drugs.  Medley was additionally charged with following too closely and failure to maintain a single lane.

Rome Teen Dies In Cherokee County, AL ATV Accident

An ATV accident in Cherokee County, Alabama last Friday, took the life of a Rome, Georgia teenager.  According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the fourteen-year-old teen was critically injured when a 2017 Mahindra all-terrain vehicle that the teen was driving left the roadway, rode up a guide wire, and overturned. The teenager driving was ejected and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment where the youth succumbed to injuries. The passenger, an eight-year-old juvenile, was hurt – and was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both were not using their seat belts at the time of the crash. The crash occurred on Cherokee County 102 near Cherokee County 104, approximately two miles north of Cedar Bluff, in Cherokee County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

Town Of Trion Announces Summer Hours

From the Town of Trion: Due to the heat and high temperatures the Sanitation, Public Works, and Gas Department hours will change to 6:30a.m. until 3:00p.m., Monday through Friday. The new hours will begin Monday, June 05, 2023.
