City Will Use Old Public Works Building

Work is moving forward on the new public works facility for the City of Summerville.  The city is planning the new public works building and has started preparing for a new building to be in place later this year.  The downtown building that housed the public works department was badly damaged during the Labor Day Weekend flood of 2022.  The city says that the old building will still be used for storage, and possible overflow office space.  The city received $100,000 in insurance settlements from the flooding that damaged the building last year. The balance of the funds for the new facility will come from the city’s special local option sales tax fund.  The new building will be located on city-owned property off Vitality Lane near the Summerville Industrial Park.
