Georgia Agricultural Awareness Week

This week is Georgia Agricultural Awareness Week and celebrates Georgia’s number one industry – agriculture.  “As we celebrate Agriculture Awareness Week, let us remember that agriculture is way more than just a job – it’s a way of life,” said Commissioner Tyler Harper. “From the gas pump to the grocery store and everywhere in between, Agriculture and the Georgia Department of Agriculture impact all 11 million Georgians every single day. Today we appreciate and celebrate Georgia’s farmers and farm families who work every day to produce the food, fiber, and shelter the rest of us rely on. We can all play a part in ensuring the success of Georgia’s number one industry – Agriculture, and I encourage everyone to join in the celebration.”  Find out more about Georgia’s Agricultural Awareness Week Here

Rep. Lumsden Weekly Legislative Report

State Rep. Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee) has released his weekly legislative report for the 10th week of the General Assembly.  Lumsden says that the General Assembly has passed a bipartisan measure to improve infant and maternal health outcomes in Georgia and another measure that would protect vulnerable senior citizens.  Also, both the House and Senate passed the “Lemonade Stand Act”.  The measure, if signed by Governor Kemp, would mean a child’s lemonade stand would be free from permits that state and local governments require of businesses – as long as the annual income is less than $5,000.  You can read Rep. Lumsden’s complete report below:
