

Georgia gas prices rose at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.25 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 19 cents more than a week ago, 52 cents more than a month ago, and 12 cents more than this time last year. It now costs $48.75 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying almost $2.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

Last Friday night, Summerville Police received a call about the driver of a vehicle pointing a gun at a pedestrian on Martin Street.
A fifty-six-year-old Chattooga County man was arrested last week in Hamilton County, Tennessee on charges of driving under the influence. According to Hamilton County arrest records, Edgar Dorman Bishop of a Butler Dairy Road, Summerville address was arrested on Thursday and charged with DUI.


A twenty-four-year-old Alabama man was arrested in Northwest Georgia after he was caught shoplifting. While officers were arresting him on the shoplifting charges, they found suspected cocaine in his possession.

The Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council, in conjunction with the University of Georgia and the Georgia Archives, has available one stipend to cover attendance at the 2023 Georgia Archives Institute (GAI). The stipend is funded by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and is contingent on congressional authorization of continued funding of NHPRC.
