Trion Fire Department June Call Report

The Trion Fire Department has released their call report for the month of June.  The fire department responded to 8 residential fire calls, 4 commercial fire calls and 4 illegal burns.  There were 2 vehicle fires and they responded to 2 vehicle accidents and assisted in 9 medical calls.  They responded to 4 natural gas leaks and 2 downed trees or power lines.  The Trion Fire Department also responded to 1 hazmat operation – which was the ammonia spill at Mount Vernon Mills.

Chattooga Band Boosters Meeting This Evening

The Chattooga Band Boosters will be having their first meeting for the 2024-2025 school year this evening at the Chattooga High School Band Room.  Parents of this year’s marching band members need to attend the meeting.  Upcoming events and the finalized marching season calendar will be discussed.  The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM.

 

More Information On Child The Drowned At Weiss Lake Over The Past Weekend

A three-year-old child died after drowning in Weiss Lake over the past weekend. The youngster, Kinley Nicole Anderson, was with family members in Cherokee County when she disappeared late Saturday afternoon.

NGEMC Reports Scam Regarding Power Bills

North Georgia EMC received reports late last month about a scam call that was going out to members where the caller claimed to be from a power company and telling the person on the other end of the line that $50 credit would appear on their next bill if they gave their banking information over the phone.  North Georgia EMC is reminding their members that you should NEVER give out your personal or payment information to an unsolicited caller.  If you feel threatened or rushed by a caller, hang up immediately.  To confirm your account status with North Georgia EMC you can always call.  The North Georgia EMC office in Trion’s number is 706-734-7341.

Raffensperger Enlists Veterans To Serve As Poll Workers

Yesterday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Vet the Vote announced their partnership encouraging veterans and military families across the state to serve as poll workers. Vet the Vote is a nonprofit initiative that recruits veterans and military family members to serve their communities again as poll workers. As part of the partnership, Secretary Raffensberger and Vet the Vote will host events for veterans and military families in Paulding County and in Muscogee County, on July 16 and 17 respectively.
