An eighty-five-year-old Trion woman was charged after video footage showed her vehicle hitting a pedestrian in the parking lot of Walmart in Trion of last week.

A well known pastor, revival leader and a native of Trion passed away at his home in Attalla, Alabama on Sunday. Rev. Jimmy Bailey pastored in Tennessee and in Summerville early in his ministry, but for the past fifty-seven years, he had been the pastor at Reed Memorial Baptist Church in Attalla.
A parade will be held this evening to honor the 8 and Under Baseball and 8 and Under Softball State Champions. Both teams from the Summerville Recreation Department, along with other teams that had success as the regional and state level will be in the parade that will start at CVS Pharmacy and travel up Commerce Street (Highway 27) to Favor Street, just past O’Reilly Auto Parts. Spectators should line up on the northbound sidewalks between the Summerville Post Office and Jefferson’s Restaurant. Staging for the parade will take place on Economy Street at the old Goody Barn location. Everyone is asked to come out and show support for our local state champion teams. The parade will get underway at 6:30 PM.
Those in need of groceries can go by South Summerville Baptist Church tomorrow from 10 AM until 1 PM and get a free box of groceries. There’s Hope for the Hungry will be distributing the food in the parking lot at South Summerville. No ID is required, and food must be picked up in person. There is no charge and no questions asked. There’s Hope For the Hungry distributes free food throughout North Georgia in collaboration with local churches. So far this year, 32,429 people that make up 11,100 families have been fed by the ministry. That also includes 8,986 children and 6,897 senior adults. An Armuchee woman has been charged in connection with a fire that occurred back on March 31 on East Second Avenue in Lindale in Floyd County.
On Sunday, Summerville Police arrested a McGinnis Circle man on several felony drug warrants.
The annual Twisted ankle Trail Races will be held at Sloppy Floyd State Park on September 7, 2024. Three race distances are offered with a 5K (3.1 miles), a 10 Mile race, and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) for every level of experience. The race has been held since 2005, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park. Funeral services will be held at Alpine Community Church in Menlo tomorrow for Martha Tucker, the longtime Clerk of Chattooga County who passed away on Sunday.
